Fantastische ervaring: We were a group of six friends. Stephen is a friendly and interesting person to spend a few hours with. He communicates well beforehand and is open to any particular requirements you may have. We spent an informative and entertaining five hours walking around his home town. Afterwards Stephen recommended a few restaurants and places to visit. It was a great way to spend the first day of our visit to Prague and it perfectly set up the rest of our stay. Highly recommended.

I've visited Barcelona several times over the years but felt I learnt something new about the history, architecture and flavour of the city. He was also very adaptable to the interaction he received during the tour - highly recommended!!

Fantastische ervaring: We booked the Highlights & Hidden Gems of Hanoi on Thursday morning and were looked after by Trang, who was a delightful host. Trang was very knowledgeable about her City and we were able to see parts of Hanoi that are off the tourist trail. Price included a coffee stop, entrance to an arts centre and Hao Lo prison (Hanoi Hilton). A must do activity if you have a morning or afternoon free.

Fantastische ervaring: Eamon was an engaging and enlightening host to us. We had asked that the tour focused on history, literature, culture and food. That's quite a list and Eamon masterfully walked us through all of it - weaving together the different strands so that it seemed seamless. When we asked questions, he went into greater detail discussing complex and difficult times with great knowledge and wisdom. HIs history included the history of Irish pubs which was great! Now I know about Snugs. Thank you Eamon who is indeed the happy historian.

Fantastische ervaring: I am so happy that I booked my walking tour. My host, Wendy, loves Cartagena and it shows. Her knowledge of the history of the area, it’s culture and food made my day. Not only did I have good food and drink but I had learning experience. She was patient with all of my questions and deviations. The food was amazing. She took me places that no tourist would ever have found on their own.

Fantastische ervaring: We had a terrific time with Atreyu on our tasting tour. We picked him because of the great reviews and the flexibility in picking the time of day. We were not disappointed. We had been on a walking tour as part of our river cruise but Atreyu took us to different spots so we saw more of the city. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and fun to be with. Lets not forget about the food! We tried a wide variety of food in multiple locations and it was all fantastic and different than what we find at home. I would book again with him!

Fantastische ervaring: This is the review you wrote: We recently had a day out with Ted to Cu Chi tunnels and then a highlights tour of Ho Chi Minh city. He guided us through the whole Cu Chi tunnels experience and round all the crowds, explaining and detailing everything really. His knowledge of the main city later meant we managed to cram a lot in in the short time we were staying in the city. I don't think there is anything this guy doesn't know about, so knowledgeable, helpful and informative and made the whole experience fun. An amazing guide who I would definitely recommend, he's a Manchester United fan, but I guess even he can't get everything right!!

Fantastische ervaring: We can't say enough good things about our guide Oun. He was charming and friendly and his knowledge of Cambodian history and the temples was fantastic. He was very engaging in telling us all about the origins and history of these fantastic artefacts and monuments and it was a pleasure to be in his company for the day. His English was superb with a great sense of humour which made the experience all the more entertaining and informative. We would definitely recommend embarking on an excursion with Oun, as he was one of the best guides I have ever been on a tour with.

Fantastische ervaring: Rodolfo was a GREAT communicator (excellent English, too), got in touch right away after we made our booking letting us know how we could get in touch and confirming meet-up details a couple of days before our tour. Rodolfo not only let us sample numerous local dishes and local fresh fruits, he taught us about Philippine history and culture via cuisine. We also REALLY appreciated that Rodolfo sent follow-up messages answering questions that came up during our tour, complete with links and references, etc. We had a different tour booked for later in the day and Rodolfo volunteered to walk over to the starting point and made sure we were in the right place before saying bye. Rodolfo was thoughtful, kind and professional and we would highly recommend him as a guide!

Fantastische ervaring: My husband and I were visiting Cyprus for the first time and booked a tour of Limassol with Andiana. It was a wonderful experience! Andriana is extremely knowledgeable, passionate and personable. She gave us a great overview of Cyprus and its complicated history. We enjoyed the visit very much!

His deep knowledge of the city’s history and culture kept us completely engaged as we explored its many fascinating neighborhoods. Salvo’s energy and enthusiasm were contagious, and his excellent English made everything easy to follow and enjoyable. He also shared great insider tips on what to see next and where to eat — the kind of local advice that makes a trip truly special. Fantastische ervaring: We chose Kadir based on research and reviews. It was the right choice. He is so knowledgeable regarding Turkey's Jewish heritage and culture. He has a wonderful sense of humor along with being warm, friendly and cordial. He was eager to learn a few Yiddish words like treif and machatunim. All in all, we had a terrific time with him. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kadir to anyone seeking a great guide for Jewish heritage while in Istanbul.

Fantastische ervaring: Chefchaouen (Blue City) tour--October 15, 2025: We loved our customized tour of Tangier with professional guide Thami of Withlocals, so we decided to book him again for a visit to Chefchaouen. Just the two of us. Thami promptly met us at 9 a.m., as promised. Again, we hit the jackpot. Thami took care of everything: car rental (very new and comfortable), the driver, and our enlightened educational conversations to/from were worth their weight in gold. He is so well versed in the history and culture of his country that one hardly notices that he is doing his job. It's more like having a good chat with an old friend. But he is truly a walking encyclopedia. The drive itself was worth every penny. Absolutely beautiful country. And once we arrived at our destination, Thami took us on a slow paced stroll through the medina, where he greeted old friends and introduced us, all the while informing us about history, architecture, and customs. The Chefchaouen Medina is a tad more physically challenging than Tangier's--we think--so be ready for steps and uphill walking. The weather was perfect, and we were back home by 6:30 p.m. There is no doubt that we will return home in a few days with a greater understanding and appreciation of Morocco and its lovely people. We are very happy that we "discovered" Withlocals, and even happier that we discovered Thami. The money you invest in a tour with Thami will pay big dividends for years to come. -- David W. Fantastische ervaring: Our day in the Blue City was perfect. It started smooth and on time. We had a lovely drive from Tangier through the countryside to Chefchaouen conversing about the geography and customs of the people who live there. Thami guided us unhurried, through the magical blue maze of Chawen allowing time for shopping and interacting with locals he knew. Bonus! Besides the amazing Medina we explored the historical structures of fortress and palace now a museum. Our guide discussed points of interest inside and outside in the gardens. We climbed to the top of the tower for super views and more points of interest. We took time to enjoy refreshments in the plaza before heading home . Our trip satisfied our curiosity while at the same time being fun and relaxed. We had complete confidence in our super good guide, Thami. Thank you Withlocals and Thami!

Fantastische ervaring: I arranged a solo personalised 5 hour guided tour of Cadiz with Elena. Communication to finalise details was excellent and the arrangements were agreed. Elena’s knowledge of Cadiz and the surrounding areas is incredible which provided meaningful context to its culture and history. Elena is engaging, very personable and a great communicator. We ended the tour with some wonderful tapas at some of her favourite places. I would unreservedly recommend Elena for your next trip to Cadiz.

Fantastische ervaring: My husband and I took a private e-Bike tour of Athens around the Acropolis with Ste. It was my absolute favorite tour during our 2-week trip to Greece and Italy. There is no better way to see and learn about Athens up close and personal! I highly recommend this tour and Ste was so gracious and helpful!

She has a warm, enthusiastic personality and shared her beautiful city with me, including the history, the architecture, the food, and much more, as we talked about some of the similarities and differences between our countries. She was a lot of fun, and really enhanced the rest of my stay in this great city. I felt like we were friends by the time our tour was over and hated to part. I would definitely recommend her!!

Fantastische ervaring: Wonderful food tour with Sara. Lots of variety and served with lots of opinionated history of Berlin. I went for the food, but came back with a much better understanding of how Berlin is laid out, the characteristics of each neighborhood, and why Berlin feels so much different from the rest of Germany. I wish I had done this tour earlier in my visit. Sara also helped our friends design their own Bowie’s Berlin tour. Money well spent!

Fantastische ervaring: Derek was a wealth of knowledge about Dublin and Ireland and not just a spewer of factoids. He engaged at our request on a wide range of off-the-cuff topics ranging from the Irish language and attitudes towards it through the last two centuries to the teaching of Irish mythology in schools and the nature of YA fiction in Ireland today. Cheerful and accommodating describe Derek, but only insufficiently. Highly recommended!

Fantastische ervaring: We did the 10 Tastings of Naples Food Tour with Raffaele as a group of 8, and it was excellent. Every stop was well chosen, the food and drinks were authentic, and his local knowledge made it even better. Raffaele shared history and culture in a way that felt personal and engaging. His pacing was perfect, and he kept the whole group connected and laughing. You can tell he loves his city, and it shows in how he hosts. This tour was a highlight of our trip. We all rate it a 10 out of 10 and highly recommend asking for Raffaele.

Fantastische ervaring: Julio was the most informed, charming and energetic tour guide we have ever had...and we have had a lot. His knowledge is encyclopedic but never boring and he led us through 2 neighborhoods we would not have discovered on our own. He was flexible and tailored the tour to our specifications. He also has the remarkable ability to walk backwards while talking and in Madrid that is really something! We loved him.

Fantastische ervaring: My husband and I had an absolutely amazing time with Rosa during our tour of the British Museum. She is funny, insightful, patient and clearly very knowledgable about the galleries and the significance of every piece. We were with her from 10:30a-2p and the only reason we had to stop was we had a train to catch. She offered to stay longer which we wish we could have done! Couldn't recommend more - the time with Rosa was worth every penny. We can't wait to come back to London, book another tour with her and see even more of the museum!

Fantastische ervaring: Karmen led us on the best tour we had during our two weeks in Croatia. She asked us ahead of time what we were interested in—history of Dubrovnik and Croatia, seeing places in town that were off the typical tourist path, avoiding crowds, no interest in Game of Thrones, and suggestions for places to eat. She proactively sent us a list of Dubrovnik restaurant recommendations and even reached out to friends in Zagreb to provide restaurant recommendations there as well. The day before our tour, I asked Karmen if we could move the start time up by an hour. She quickly responded that yes, she could start the tour an hour earlier. She met us at our Airbnb, which was much more convenient than trying to find each other among the crowds in the town center. The tour was exactly what we had asked for, focusing on the fascinating history of Dubrovnik and Croatia. On the tour, she even somehow managed to avoid the crowds and keep us in the shade—it was a hot day! Book a tour with Karmen; you won’t be disappointed!

Fantastische ervaring: From the moment we had booked on the tour Lucia was in touch with her wattsapp number. This allowed us to bespoke the tour and include my wife who is 10 weeks post hip replacement operation. Lucia’s knowledge of short cuts around Lisbon and how to get the most out of our stay was superb and her general zest for life made for an enjoyable 3 hours. When we return we would definitely book on another tour ……. Probably involving food

She’s not only super knowledgeable about the history and culture of the neighborhood, but also makes everything feel fun and easy to follow. In just three hours, she showed me hidden corners, beautiful squares, and little details I never would’ve noticed on my own. Fantastische ervaring: Had the best afternoon walking around with Artty. His knowledge of the area in next to none (it is his home town) and his ability to tell a story keeps you captivated. We went from district to district along with the perfect story on how everything came about throughout history and how it was all connected to modern day Bangkok. Artty was happy to discuss any off topic subjects and also offer his own opinions. Just needed to give him a shout and we'd stop for multiple photo opportunities, as well as him suggesting some great photo angles not to be missed. All round great experience thanks again Artty!

Fantastische ervaring: Garen is an absolutely outstanding guide with a remarkable passion for the culture and food of Taiwan. The 3-hour street food tasting tour was so much more than just a meal; it was a deeply interesting and insightful experience. Her explanations and background information on each dish and the markets themselves made everything so much more engaging. She didn't just point out food; she taught us how to order and the proper ways to eat it, giving us a true local experience. When we had a chance to sit down, we were able to dive into a deeper discussion about Taiwan from many perspectives, which we really enjoyed. Garen was also incredibly thoughtful and prepared. The weather was very hot for us, and she not only came with extra napkins and toothpicks, but she even took the time to help us buy sun umbrellas, which have been a lifesaver. Her English is excellent, her passion is infectious, and her knowledge and ability to share it are simply outstanding. Fantastische ervaring: Paolo was a terrific guide for both the golf cart tour (exploration of Rome) and the Guided Tour of the Colosseum. He began the golf cart tour by asking us what we wanted to see and learn. Paolo provided an excellent overview and history of what we were seeing. We asked a lot of questions which Paolo happily answered In both cases he made the best use of time based on the traffic and crowd size, enabling us to see and learn the most in our available time. For the Colosseum tour, Paolo took care of booking the tickets and entry time for us. He has a friendly personality and made the tours fun and educational. We highly recommend Paolo.

Fantastische ervaring: I had a very well rounded 6 1/2 hour private walking tour all over London. Kemal was wonderful. He tailored the entire trip to what he knew I was interested in seeing He imparted so much knowledge and history He showed me some off-the-beaten -track places that I would not have known about and with this knowledge of history and the city, I really learned a lot. We walked a lot and I really got my exercise in. It was exactly what I wanted to do since I was traveling alone. It was a great day He is a great tour guide.

Fantastische ervaring: Jhoan was a great guide, staying in touch from when we booked the tour to afterwards. He allows you flexibility to decide how you want to do the tour and where to visit. Having grown up in the Comuna he has a wealth of knowledge about it past, present and future, and communicates everything with enthusiasm. Fantastische ervaring: Our tour of Old Town Dubrovnik with Karmen was truly exceptional! She is knowledgeable, engaging, and fun, weaving history and culture into every stop while also showing us hidden corners away from the crowds. It felt like exploring the city with a friend who just happens to be an expert. Her insights brought Dubrovnik to life, and we left with a much deeper appreciation for its history and culture. It’s easy to see why she has a perfect 5-star rating — she more than deserves it!

Fantastische ervaring: Oluf was wonderful. He met us right on time at our hotel and we started our scheduled six hour journey around Edinburgh. Over the next seven hours and one half hours, including lunch, we made our way around the city. We saw all the sites we wanted, and detoured whenever we requested to go off our route. Oluf was incredibly accommodating about making sure we had appropriate restroom breaks, and he found us a delightful place to eat lunch. He has a wonderful knowledge regarding the history of Scotland and Great Britain, and shared it with us appropriately. Oluf is quite personable, and he shared with us some cute non historical stories along our way. I would highly recommend a walking tool with Oluf.

Fantastische ervaring: We came into Porto on an Oceania cruise ship. We arrived at 9am so, we could not take full advantage of the 8 hour private tour. Gustavo picked us up at 930am in his pristinely clean Mercedes station wagon. We needed to be back on board by 530pm but needed to be a bit conservative since it wasn’t a ship sponsored tour. We arrived back at 440pm. Once picked up, we headed straight to the Douro Valley. Gustavo knew all the best vista points and brought us to them. We had a wonderful lunch and wine at Sandman, one of the finest port producers in Portugal. We had to skip the boat ride on the Douro River so that we could do most everything else. After lunch, we told Gustavo that we would rather tour around, looking for the best Vistas versus going to the wine tasting. We thoroughly enjoyed our choice. The excursion was fabulous and we’re thrilled that we got to witness the Douro Valley & Douro Valley. It was a high quality tour put on by a native of the area. The only reason I can’t give it a 10 for value is that we had to pay for some things we didn’t do. This said, we knew about all of this in advance of the tour.

Negatieve ervaring: Good Tours but bad customer serviece. Our guide didnt show up and there was no one we could contact. Neither the chat for customer serviece in the app nor the chat on the website worked. We tried it with two different cellphones. We couldnt even find an information in the help center about what to do when the guide doesnt show up.

Fantastische ervaring: I cannot recommend The History of Dubrovnik tour with Marko highly enough. This experience was far more than a typical sightseeing – it was a deeply moving and intellectually enriching journey into the heart of a city that has endured, resisted, and ultimately thrived. Our guide Marko was exceptional: knowledgeable, passionate, and deeply respectful of the complex history of his city and his country that he was sharing. Marko didn’t just recite facts—he told stories often involving his personal feelings and emotions. Stories of resilience, of identity, of a people caught in the crosswinds of a fractured nation. Walking through Dubrovnik’s ancient streets while learning about its role during the Yugoslav Wars gave us a whole new appreciation for the city’s beauty and strength and made the experience all the more meaningful. We learned a lot about the ancient and newest history of the city and would certainly come back for more!

Fantastische ervaring: Aleksander was amazing! My great grandparents immigrated from Poland, and he took us to the villages that they immigrated from. While driving there, he told us a lot of facts and pointed out important landmarks in Poland. You could really tell that he knew a lot about the history of Poland and that he was super proud of his country. Aleksander went out if his way to accommodate us on this heritage journey. I highly recommend booking him for your next adventure. You will not be disappointed.

Hara gave us a wide and varied experience, allowing us to savor all of our senses as she hand chose wonderful stops for delicious food and treats. I loved feeling the rhythm of the city, and learning about history and culture of Thessanoliki. Hara creates a fun and relaxing atmosphere, and she even gave us recommendations for restaurants for later in the day. An absolutely must-do tour. Highly recommended.

Fantastische ervaring: My husband and I had the best time on this tour! Ana was incredibly knowledgeable about the city and showed us some spots we definitely would not have found on our own. While it was very hot and the timing of our tour was not ideal, as we were visiting in August and a lot of places were closed for the summer vacation, Ana filled the time seamlessly and gave us plenty of different options, keeping us in the shade whenever possible and getting us cold and refreshing drinks to fend off the heat. We learned a ton about the city, ate some of the most delicious and authentic food either of us had ever tasted, drank delicious wines, and finished off the tour with refreshing gelato. Ultimately, we don’t feel as though we missed out on anything due to closures and the heat was well worth it for the experience Ana delivered! Highly recommend!

Fantastische ervaring: We booked Kemal when we were home in New Zealand, having reviewed other reviews about Kemal and having checked out his photography online and in instagram. This man is so modest about his accomplishments- everything online is understated. He has a great ability to engage with locals in Turkey in such a warm and genuine manner- people seem to do anything for him, allow him places and are happy for him/us to photograph them, showing their story and humanity. He has travelled to and knows so many countries- it’s not for nothing he was a staff photographer ( and executive editor) for National Geographic for many years. I don’t think we could ask him anything about Istanbul and the surrounding area ( we did two of his tours) which he didn’t know. He organised a car, and made recommendations for meals/ drinks (which were spot on- and we had as part of the tours). Not only that, he is very flexible to fit in with exactly what you want- just guiding, or going to places specifically for photographic opportunities. He met us at our hotel- really takes away any hassle- and you really do get to see a lot more than if left to your own devices. He also has a “voice map” guided out of the Galata area of Istanbul- we didn’t know about that- suggest checking it out. We weren’t sure if Kemal was the same person as “Kemal Nuraydin” in instagram- he is. He is the same Kemal in “Terra Photos tours” ( website and instagram) as well. Also, to remove any potential confusion, he actually lives in London, doing the same work there, but has friends and family in Istanbul, so is always happy to fly over to do your guiding or tour. (We are still talking about that tomato in the market, and the black risotto was delicious) Along the way she taught us a lot about Croatia and Zadar in particular. Fantastische ervaring: I’m glad we invested a bit more in a great tour guide. He looked after us with everything, making the tour super easy with the kids. Hieu’s English was great and his knowledge of My Son and its culture was amazing. There wasn’t a question he couldn’t answer. We’ve been in Hoi An for a few weeks so we had loads of questions about Vietnam and what it’s like to live here. We went with the afternoon tour. It was hot but not many people around. Towards the end of the tour it was cooler and no one else around. The dance show was cool to see with the kids. The tour wasn’t rushed and he took the time to explain everything to us. We would highly recommend Hieu!

Fantastische ervaring: We booked a private tour with Gilbert based on previous reviews and we weren’t disappointed. Gilbert personalised the tour based on our requests, but still managed to pack in an enormous amount of history and current affairs as we walked around the city from eatery to eatery. He kept a group of adults, young adults and teenagers enthralled for four hours. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone - make sure you’re hungry before you go as the food is plentiful!

Fantastische ervaring: My niece Ila and I were visiting Berlin. We both like photography, but wanted to get some expert advice about photographing Berlin. Ila found Fabian's offer on "With Locals," and right from the get-go he was helpful and knowledgeable. I contacted him to explain what we were looking for, and he asked all the right questions and showed a real desire to make sure our time with him met our expectations. Well, our expectations were met and then some! Fabian is a friendly and forthcoming fellow who showed a real interest in us and what we were trying to learn. I was especially impressed with how kind he was and with how thoughtful he was with regard to Ila and what she was hoping to achieve. He gave excellent compositional and technical advice, and he extremely patient and keen on helping us take our skills to the next level. We were amazed with how much learnt in a short period of time, and for the rest of the trip, when taking pictures, we found ourselves asking "how would Fabian approach this shot?" Ila and I both recommend Fabian wholeheartedly and without reservation.

Fantastische ervaring: We really enjoyed our two day Amsterdam tour with Kawika. He is very knowledgeable and was helpful and sensitive to our wants and needs. He managed to reconfigure our tour due to airline delays and still made our stay in Amsterdam most enjoyable and interesting. His artistic insight and general artistic knowledge are exceptional and really added to the artistic aspect, and he listened carefully to us and curated a bespoke tour suited exactly to what we wanted and could manage. Fantastische ervaring: Eric was a fantastic guide. At first we weren’t sure if the tour would be worth it, but we were so pleased we went ahead. There is no way we could have discovered the places Eric took us to on our own, let alone understand the significance of each. Eric was incredibly flexible and accommodating and my group of 4 would absolutely recommend him as a guide. We even got to witness Haenyeo, women divers, an absolute bonus and tick off the bucket list for us all!

Despite it being the end of my trip, where I had already tried a lot of things he managed to find some new foods for me. He is very engaging, a super guide, chatty and very informative. Seeing the back alleys of the more rural areas was fascinating and a very enjoyable end to my time in Sri Lanka.

Fantastische ervaring: Sebastian was a great guide! While on tour, we felt as though we were taking a walk with an old friend (and a very knowledgable one). He told us about the history of the city as well as the lives of Amsterdam's citizens now. He adapted his way of explaining stuff to our mixed level of English (used simpler terms — so don't worry about not understanding something) and he showed us the best local places (the snack was amazing!). We also really appreciated little fun facts about various subjects connected to the city and his tips on best gifts from Amsterdam. We feel fully prepared for getting around on our own in the next days of our trip and for understanding stuff in museums and places all around town better. Sebastian is a great choice no matter the group — we went as mother and daughter (50 and 19) and both had a wonderful time. Amazing experience, we highly recommend!
