Fantastische ervaring: This Mekong Delta trip and overnight in Can Tho City with Ted was truly extraordinary. I’ve traveled extensively, and this was one of those rare experiences that stays with you long after it ends. He modified several trips on his profile to make this one more memorable. Ted gave us access to the real Vietnam — not a staged version, not a tourist script, but authentic daily life that you simply could not experience without a guide like him. Every moment felt bespoke, intentional, and deeply personal. It was obvious how much trust and respect he has built with local communities over time. We saw wildlife, working river life, art, craftsmanship, and traditions that I never imagined I would witness firsthand. There were moments on this trip where I genuinely thought, I never expected to see something like this in my life. Ted is not just a guide — he is a storyteller, a cultural bridge, and someone who clearly cares deeply about sharing Vietnam in a meaningful and respectful way. We felt incredibly fortunate to have experienced this with him. Ted also helped select our overnight accommodations. And arranged all drivers, boats, tuk tuk, etc. Getting out of Ho Chi Min for 36 hours was the best decision we made! I first connected with her before my trip to Taipei because she seemed very enthusiastic about doing food tours. I booked the 10 tastings of Taipei with her for my first night there. It was amazing! Her food choices were excellent and delicious and her explanations were thorough and interesting. She explained Taiwanese food in the context of history. She gave me all kinds of helpful tips for my stay in Taiwan. I liked her so much I arranged for her to be my guide for the Ningxia night market a few days later. In addition she arranged for my pickup from the TPE airport which went very smoothly. As promised the driver was waiting for me after immigration and drove me to my hotel. Garen is fun, knowledgeable and experienced. She goes above and beyond!Do not hesitate to book any guided tour with her.

Fantastische ervaring: I highly recommend doing a tour with Wendy. She is a local of the area and her history knowledge is exceptional. We booked the Cartegena (walled city) and Gethsemani tour and added the culinary experience. We got to hear how the areas came to be and why they are the way they are now. Tasting some of the local street food was an experience I wouldn’t want to miss out on. It was all very good. I’m glad we got to spend the hours with Wendy learning all about her culture. Highly recommended!

Fantastische ervaring: Hamid took Mostafa's place at the last minute, and we are so glad he did. Nothing against Mostafa, whom we never met, but Hamid gave our family of 5 adults a fun and very interesting tastings tour in Fez. He was most gracious to everyone in our party, being careful of allergies and food preferences, adding interesting cultural and historic information to each tasting spot. He accompanied us at the end of the tour for some tea and an interesting conversation about Fez, Morocco, politics, family life, job opportunities, and more. Hamid's tour is of our top three memories of Morocco. Thank you, Hamid!

Fantastische ervaring: We’ve learned it is money well spent to hire a local guide on day one - group or personal - when visiting an iconic city for the first time . An initial dose of local expertise, the do’s and don’ts, some historical perspective and a primer in regional culture afford the rest of the visit some deliberate structure, instead of counting on dumb luck to be in the right place at the right time. Trip prep reading is important too, but local guides really cement an itinerary for us. So much to see, so little time to see it. We signed up for a Bangkok “street food and history” tour “WithLocals” - and it was just what we needed - “Sammy” met us at base of steps to a BTS station , and we spent the afternoon together. Poor guy talked non-stop; we even followed him halfway back to his house so he could set us loose in the Chatuchak weekend market on the way. Walked couple hours sampling local fare - some familiar, some bizarre - walked down alleys and streets I never would’ve known existed without the tour. Made offering at a Hindu temple, took selfies at the tallest building in the city. Excellent job by Sammy, made a lasting impression on us; doubt I’ll ever think about Bangkok without thinking of Sammy too . Definitely well worth the time and money - thank you again my friend!

He gave us fascinating insights into Thai history and culture as we walked and was able to answer all of our questions with his expert knowledge. He took us to some hidden gems we simply wouldn't have known about which we really appreciated. Above all, he was a joy to spend time with. Anyone would be lucky to have Andy as their guide. 5* experience in every way!

His tour was shaped by a depth of knowledge that never felt tiring, but was conveyed in an engaging and vivid way, making the present easier to understand. He opened our eyes to Antwerp and expanded our horizons in a playful and stimulating manner. Questions were always welcomed and answered with ease. He is a wonderful ambassador for his city and an outstanding guide. We would happily do it again.

Fantastische ervaring: We had a wonderful experience with Anamaria Trothinger yesterday visiting the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Presidential Palace and Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. She is extremely knowledgeable and truly passionate, and she conveyed her love for Abu Dhabi throughout the entire tour. Her Italian is perfect, which made everything even clearer and more enjoyable for us. Highly recommended!

Fantastische ervaring: Our Vietnam war tour with Loan was absolutely one of the highlights of the trip to Hanoi. Loan was incredibly warm and flexible - we have a 8 month baby so needed to stop for a feed etc. and she was amazing. She was so passionate and knowledgable and really bought to life the history of Vietnam. For me 3 hours was perfect and it was such a unique thing to do. Can’t recommend Loan enough - thank you!

Fantastische ervaring: We had a delightful two days with Oun, learning about Angkor history and culture, as well as life in Cambodia. We scheduled two days to visit temples, but felt they all were merging together so Oun was willing to modify our second day itinerary in the fly. So happy he was willing to be flexible. Everything was top notch. While the highlights were Angkor Wat and Ta Prohm, a visit to Apopo to see the rats who sniff out land mines was also a can’t miss stop.

Fantastische ervaring: We did a one day tour with Thien that was exceptional. We only had one full day and needed to catch a late night flight. I contacted Thien and laid out what we wanted to do and our constraints. She set up a great itinerary, met us at our hotel, and took us to the tunnels. She has some great insights into the tunnels, and guided us through them carefully. It was really a great experience. We drove back into town and did a quick afternoon tour of the city, stopping for lunch and at the oldest coffee shop in town, a local authentic one, no chains. Then back to the hotel to grab our luggage and head out. Can't say enough about how well she and the driver took care of us. If you want a real experience in the tunnels and HCM city, I highly recommend you contact her!!!

Fantastische ervaring: Federico took us on a tour of the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill. Right from the get-go he was welcoming and funny, with anecdotes about Roman archeology that bared the glamorous, the grotesque and the grisly. The area of the Palatine and the Capitoline is so vast that without a guide we'd have had no idea what we were looking at, but Federico brought the ruins to life through his knowledge, and had images of 3D reconstructions on hand to show us what the area would have looked like in its full glory. As someone studying for a degree in ancient history, I was hoping for a tour that went beyond the pop-facts and showed the real Rome. Federico was exactly that. He tailored the information with such skill that his explanations were both fascinating for someone with decent subject knowledge, and also completely accessible to those in the group who were less familiar with Roman history! On the way back from the visit, he stopped to point out some of the best places to get delicious Roman food away from the main tourist track, and his recommendations ended up number one on our restaurant list for the holiday. You could tell how deeply he knew the city, modern and ancient--and his passion was infectious! We are so grateful to Federico for a fantastic tour, and heartily recommend him to anyone looking for a guide who is knowledgeable, funny, and so generous with his time and energy. Ave atque vale!

Fantastische ervaring: We booked a tour With Locals, trying this site for the first time while visiting Ho Chi Minh. We're glad we did, choosing Hieu as our guide. If/when we come back to Saigon, we will definitely book Hieu for another tour. He was not only knowledgeable about the city, history and culture but he's funny, friendly and really nice, too! His English is excellent. We had an lovely morning out with the Family-friendly tour and he went with our flow and interests and took us to places we'd never have found on our own. The tunnel cafe is great for kids and fascinating for adults too. Let him take the photos. He's really good at that too. I couldn't recommend a guide more and hope we have similarly great guide when we use With Locals in the future.

Fantastische ervaring: A wonderful introduction to Panamanian cuisine along with all the useful historical, cultural and political context. Daly took us to places we wouldn’t have found or considered as a tourist but all so worthwhile. We got to try a wide range of dishes, all were truly delicious. Daly was very knowledgeable and fun to chat with. We would highly recommend her without hesitation.

Fantastische ervaring: Our Dowtown Buenos Aires tour started at Plaza Mayo where Mariana ent into detail about Argentinian history. Her English is excellent and she is very engaging. She brought the subject to life. We saw the church, complete with the 3pm changing of the guard at the tomb of General San Martin. We then visited the history museum. Mariana was completely flexible, so rather than trudge around on a hot day we hopped an Uber over to the LATAM art museum where her Brazilian background came in handy. A very memorable experience thanks to Mariana.

The tour was incredibly informative and thoughtfully paced, and we learned so much about the city’s history, culture, and everyday life, not just the tourist highlights, but the real Bangkok behind them. Fantastische ervaring: I had an enthralling 3 hour walk of historical centre of Madrid with Julio Cesar. His knowledge of this beautiful city is extraordinary and he is a very friendly guy! The time flew as we time traveled the 1500 years since the Moors were running the show around these parts.

Fantastische ervaring: From Anna's very first words, I knew we were in for a great experience. Anna is not just knowledgeable, but a great storyteller. She was engaging and personable. She went "above and beyond" in sharing rich detail about Helsinki, as well as Finnish history, politics, economics, and the arts. I feel I know some of the little-known facts about the sites we visited, as well as the culture. I only wish we could have spent more time with her exploring the city and I look forward to reconnecting if/when I ever return to Finland.

What really stood out was how she gave thoughtful context to both the beauty of old Prague and life in the city during the years of USSR control, which added a lot of depth and perspective to what we were seeing. If you want more than surface-level highlights and actually want to understand Prague while enjoying the walk, Ivana is the guide you want. Highly, highly recommended.

Fantastische ervaring: Our family of 8 adults did a three hour walking tour with Orlando on the first day we arrived in Porto. Orlando was amazing!! Not only was he hilarious and pleasant to be with, but he was also extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of history. We truly enjoyed our time spent with him. It was definitely a highlight of our trip to Portugal. If you’re looking for a great overview of Porto and it’s beautiful neighborhoods and sites, we highly recommend doing the tour with Orlando!

Fantastische ervaring: Having been to Josi a few times before, we wanted something different. We met Lulu at Pata Pata and enjoyed a good coffee to discuss our tour. We had to change to a morning tour and Lulu was flexible and gracious to meet our timing needs. We had a lovely tour of the precinct - enjoyed the art and insights. Inspecting interesting F&B places and creative spaces. Loved speaking to Lulu and learning about the area's history and personalities. Learned about the car wash culture and finished with a good braii eating with the lunchtime crowd. Thanks Lulu - hope we cross paths again.

You can feel his passion for Korean history from the moment he starts speaking he’s extremely knowledgeable, articulate, and genuinely excited to share his culture. Even with our tight schedule, he made everything feel smooth, interesting, and meaningful. His explanations were clear, engaging, and filled with insights you wouldn’t get from a typical tour. We learned so much and honestly enjoyed every minute with him. He was able to deal with us a little slower as some members of our party wasn’t 100% and we were a bit jet lagged. Fantastische ervaring: We were a group of six friends. Stephen is a friendly and interesting person to spend a few hours with. He communicates well beforehand and is open to any particular requirements you may have. We spent an informative and entertaining five hours walking around his home town. Afterwards Stephen recommended a few restaurants and places to visit. It was a great way to spend the first day of our visit to Prague and it perfectly set up the rest of our stay. Highly recommended.

Fantastische ervaring: We booked the Highlights & Hidden Gems of Hanoi on Thursday morning and were looked after by Trang, who was a delightful host. Trang was very knowledgeable about her City and we were able to see parts of Hanoi that are off the tourist trail. Price included a coffee stop, entrance to an arts centre and Hao Lo prison (Hanoi Hilton). A must do activity if you have a morning or afternoon free.

Fantastische ervaring: Eamon was an engaging and enlightening host to us. We had asked that the tour focused on history, literature, culture and food. That's quite a list and Eamon masterfully walked us through all of it - weaving together the different strands so that it seemed seamless. When we asked questions, he went into greater detail discussing complex and difficult times with great knowledge and wisdom. HIs history included the history of Irish pubs which was great! Now I know about Snugs. Thank you Eamon who is indeed the happy historian.

Not only did I have good food and drink but I had learning experience. She was patient with all of my questions and deviations. The food was amazing. Fantastische ervaring: We had a terrific time with Atreyu on our tasting tour. We picked him because of the great reviews and the flexibility in picking the time of day. We were not disappointed. We had been on a walking tour as part of our river cruise but Atreyu took us to different spots so we saw more of the city. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and fun to be with. Lets not forget about the food! We tried a wide variety of food in multiple locations and it was all fantastic and different than what we find at home. I would book again with him!

Fantastische ervaring: This is the review you wrote: We recently had a day out with Ted to Cu Chi tunnels and then a highlights tour of Ho Chi Minh city. He guided us through the whole Cu Chi tunnels experience and round all the crowds, explaining and detailing everything really. His knowledge of the main city later meant we managed to cram a lot in in the short time we were staying in the city. I don't think there is anything this guy doesn't know about, so knowledgeable, helpful and informative and made the whole experience fun. An amazing guide who I would definitely recommend, he's a Manchester United fan, but I guess even he can't get everything right!!

He was very engaging in telling us all about the origins and history of these fantastic artefacts and monuments and it was a pleasure to be in his company for the day. His English was superb with a great sense of humour which made the experience all the more entertaining and informative. We would definitely recommend embarking on an excursion with Oun, as he was one of the best guides I have ever been on a tour with.

Fantastische ervaring: Rodolfo was a GREAT communicator (excellent English, too), got in touch right away after we made our booking letting us know how we could get in touch and confirming meet-up details a couple of days before our tour. Rodolfo not only let us sample numerous local dishes and local fresh fruits, he taught us about Philippine history and culture via cuisine. We also REALLY appreciated that Rodolfo sent follow-up messages answering questions that came up during our tour, complete with links and references, etc. We had a different tour booked for later in the day and Rodolfo volunteered to walk over to the starting point and made sure we were in the right place before saying bye. Fantastische ervaring: We chose Kadir based on research and reviews. It was the right choice. He is so knowledgeable regarding Turkey's Jewish heritage and culture. He has a wonderful sense of humor along with being warm, friendly and cordial. He was eager to learn a few Yiddish words like treif and machatunim. All in all, we had a terrific time with him. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kadir to anyone seeking a great guide for Jewish heritage while in Istanbul.

Fantastische ervaring: Chefchaouen (Blue City) tour--October 15, 2025: We loved our customized tour of Tangier with professional guide Thami of Withlocals, so we decided to book him again for a visit to Chefchaouen. Just the two of us. Thami promptly met us at 9 a.m., as promised. Again, we hit the jackpot. Thami took care of everything: car rental (very new and comfortable), the driver, and our enlightened educational conversations to/from were worth their weight in gold. He is so well versed in the history and culture of his country that one hardly notices that he is doing his job. It's more like having a good chat with an old friend. But he is truly a walking encyclopedia. The drive itself was worth every penny. Absolutely beautiful country. And once we arrived at our destination, Thami took us on a slow paced stroll through the medina, where he greeted old friends and introduced us, all the while informing us about history, architecture, and customs. The Chefchaouen Medina is a tad more physically challenging than Tangier's--we think--so be ready for steps and uphill walking. The weather was perfect, and we were back home by 6:30 p.m. There is no doubt that we will return home in a few days with a greater understanding and appreciation of Morocco and its lovely people. We are very happy that we "discovered" Withlocals, and even happier that we discovered Thami. The money you invest in a tour with Thami will pay big dividends for years to come. -- David W. Fantastische ervaring: Our day in the Blue City was perfect. It started smooth and on time. We had a lovely drive from Tangier through the countryside to Chefchaouen conversing about the geography and customs of the people who live there. Thami guided us unhurried, through the magical blue maze of Chawen allowing time for shopping and interacting with locals he knew. Bonus! Besides the amazing Medina we explored the historical structures of fortress and palace now a museum. Our guide discussed points of interest inside and outside in the gardens. We climbed to the top of the tower for super views and more points of interest. We took time to enjoy refreshments in the plaza before heading home . Fantastische ervaring: I arranged a solo personalised 5 hour guided tour of Cadiz with Elena. Communication to finalise details was excellent and the arrangements were agreed. Elena’s knowledge of Cadiz and the surrounding areas is incredible which provided meaningful context to its culture and history. Elena is engaging, very personable and a great communicator. We ended the tour with some wonderful tapas at some of her favourite places. I would unreservedly recommend Elena for your next trip to Cadiz.

Fantastische ervaring: My husband and I took a private e-Bike tour of Athens around the Acropolis with Ste. It was my absolute favorite tour during our 2-week trip to Greece and Italy. There is no better way to see and learn about Athens up close and personal! I highly recommend this tour and Ste was so gracious and helpful!

She has a warm, enthusiastic personality and shared her beautiful city with me, including the history, the architecture, the food, and much more, as we talked about some of the similarities and differences between our countries. Fantastische ervaring: Wonderful food tour with Sara. Lots of variety and served with lots of opinionated history of Berlin. I went for the food, but came back with a much better understanding of how Berlin is laid out, the characteristics of each neighborhood, and why Berlin feels so much different from the rest of Germany. I wish I had done this tour earlier in my visit. Sara also helped our friends design their own Bowie’s Berlin tour. Money well spent!

Fantastische ervaring: Derek was a wealth of knowledge about Dublin and Ireland and not just a spewer of factoids. He engaged at our request on a wide range of off-the-cuff topics ranging from the Irish language and attitudes towards it through the last two centuries to the teaching of Irish mythology in schools and the nature of YA fiction in Ireland today. Cheerful and accommodating describe Derek, but only insufficiently. Highly recommended!

Fantastische ervaring: We did the 10 Tastings of Naples Food Tour with Raffaele as a group of 8, and it was excellent. Every stop was well chosen, the food and drinks were authentic, and his local knowledge made it even better. Raffaele shared history and culture in a way that felt personal and engaging. His pacing was perfect, and he kept the whole group connected and laughing. You can tell he loves his city, and it shows in how he hosts. This tour was a highlight of our trip. We all rate it a 10 out of 10 and highly recommend asking for Raffaele.

Fantastische ervaring: Julio was the most informed, charming and energetic tour guide we have ever had...and we have had a lot. His knowledge is encyclopedic but never boring and he led us through 2 neighborhoods we would not have discovered on our own. He was flexible and tailored the tour to our specifications. He also has the remarkable ability to walk backwards while talking and in Madrid that is really something! We loved him.

She is funny, insightful, patient and clearly very knowledgable about the galleries and the significance of every piece. We were with her from 10:30a-2p and the only reason we had to stop was we had a train to catch. She offered to stay longer which we wish we could have done! Couldn't recommend more - the time with Rosa was worth every penny. We can't wait to come back to London, book another tour with her and see even more of the museum!

She asked us ahead of time what we were interested in—history of Dubrovnik and Croatia, seeing places in town that were off the typical tourist path, avoiding crowds, no interest in Game of Thrones, and suggestions for places to eat. She proactively sent us a list of Dubrovnik restaurant recommendations and even reached out to friends in Zagreb to provide restaurant recommendations there as well. The day before our tour, I asked Karmen if we could move the start time up by an hour. She quickly responded that yes, she could start the tour an hour earlier. She met us at our Airbnb, which was much more convenient than trying to find each other among the crowds in the town center. The tour was exactly what we had asked for, focusing on the fascinating history of Dubrovnik and Croatia. On the tour, she even somehow managed to avoid the crowds and keep us in the shade—it was a hot day! Book a tour with Karmen; you won’t be disappointed!

This allowed us to bespoke the tour and include my wife who is 10 weeks post hip replacement operation. Lucia’s knowledge of short cuts around Lisbon and how to get the most out of our stay was superb and her general zest for life made for an enjoyable 3 hours. We went from district to district along with the perfect story on how everything came about throughout history and how it was all connected to modern day Bangkok. The 3-hour street food tasting tour was so much more than just a meal; it was a deeply interesting and insightful experience. Her explanations and background information on each dish and the markets themselves made everything so much more engaging. She didn't just point out food; she taught us how to order and the proper ways to eat it, giving us a true local experience. When we had a chance to sit down, we were able to dive into a deeper discussion about Taiwan from many perspectives, which we really enjoyed. Garen was also incredibly thoughtful and prepared. The weather was very hot for us, and she not only came with extra napkins and toothpicks, but she even took the time to help us buy sun umbrellas, which have been a lifesaver. He began the golf cart tour by asking us what we wanted to see and learn. Paolo provided an excellent overview and history of what we were seeing. We asked a lot of questions which Paolo happily answered In both cases he made the best use of time based on the traffic and crowd size, enabling us to see and learn the most in our available time. For the Colosseum tour, Paolo took care of booking the tickets and entry time for us. He has a friendly personality and made the tours fun and educational. We highly recommend Paolo.

He tailored the entire trip to what he knew I was interested in seeing He imparted so much knowledge and history He showed me some off-the-beaten -track places that I would not have known about and with this knowledge of history and the city, I really learned a lot. She is knowledgeable, engaging, and fun, weaving history and culture into every stop while also showing us hidden corners away from the crowds. Fantastische ervaring: Oluf was wonderful. He met us right on time at our hotel and we started our scheduled six hour journey around Edinburgh. Over the next seven hours and one half hours, including lunch, we made our way around the city. We saw all the sites we wanted, and detoured whenever we requested to go off our route. Oluf was incredibly accommodating about making sure we had appropriate restroom breaks, and he found us a delightful place to eat lunch. He has a wonderful knowledge regarding the history of Scotland and Great Britain, and shared it with us appropriately. Oluf is quite personable, and he shared with us some cute non historical stories along our way. I would highly recommend a walking tool with Oluf.

Fantastische ervaring: We came into Porto on an Oceania cruise ship. We arrived at 9am so, we could not take full advantage of the 8 hour private tour. Gustavo picked us up at 930am in his pristinely clean Mercedes station wagon. We needed to be back on board by 530pm but needed to be a bit conservative since it wasn’t a ship sponsored tour. We arrived back at 440pm. Once picked up, we headed straight to the Douro Valley. Gustavo knew all the best vista points and brought us to them. We had a wonderful lunch and wine at Sandman, one of the finest port producers in Portugal. We had to skip the boat ride on the Douro River so that we could do most everything else. After lunch, we told Gustavo that we would rather tour around, looking for the best Vistas versus going to the wine tasting. We thoroughly enjoyed our choice. The excursion was fabulous and we’re thrilled that we got to witness the Douro Valley & Douro Valley. It was a high quality tour put on by a native of the area. The only reason I can’t give it a 10 for value is that we had to pay for some things we didn’t do. This said, we knew about all of this in advance of the tour.

Neither the chat for customer serviece in the app nor the chat on the website worked. We tried it with two different cellphones. We couldnt even find an information in the help center about what to do when the guide doesnt show up.
